NRL-COE Sustainable Materials Translational Facility
Centre for Sustainable Polymers IIT Guwahati has established the NRL-COE Sustainable Materials Translational Facility.The facility was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Governor of Assam Shri Gulab Chand Katariya on 20th May 2023.
Located at the Technology Complex of IIT Guwahati campus, the Translational Facility provide one stop cutting-edge infrastructural soluton starting from synthesis of Biodegradable Polymers to Polymer Processing to manufacture user ready articles made up of sustainable biodegradable plastics.
Some of the facailities include a Biodegradable Polymer Synthesis Plant, Cast Film Extruder, Blown Film Extruder, Thermoforming Machine, Injection Moulding Machine amongst others.
The facility aims to sensitize industry stakeholders on the scope and ease of manufacturing of sustainable plastics using indegenous technologies. It would also allow students to get trained with industrial exposure in an academic setup itself.
